Lamplough Glacier Blue, Glacier Bay, Alaska
Blue ice. Everywhere. Big blue ice. Quite otherworldly. It is invigorating to be in a place so unique and unfamiliar. With a desire to be on dry (relatively) land in order to photograph the icebergs and face of this glacier with my big film cameras, I had to travel 5 miles from the cove I anchored in, right at sunrise, in the rain, in a small inflatable boat and arrive at low tide. Upon arrival, I anchored the inflatable to land and began scouting. Every 15 minutes or so I had to move the anchor line to ensure I could safely leave before the land disappeared. It was an energetic, and very wet morning. Fortunately, it was also very productive. Enjoy the (blue) View!
