Lakeside Grizzly tracks, katmai national park, alaska

With a big landscape and large animals, Alaska is the kind of place we often look out and up. However, I am often mesmerized by details. This image of Alaskan Brown Bear tracks in the black lava sand along the shore of Naknek Lake really told a story to me. As the lake is surrounded by rainforest, it is often much easier to travel along the sandy shoreline of the lake. These huge bears leave tracks everywhere they go. This spoke to me. It was a reminder, while I was there, of who my neighbors were.
