Misty Dawn, Oxbow Bend, Grand Teton National Park

Oxbow Bend, located at the north end of Grand Teton National Park, is one of the most iconic photo locations in the country. In order to pick my ideal vantage point for sunrise I arrive very early, as there will be other photographers "taking space". For this reflection image of Mount Moran covered in a fresh dusting of snow along with the Fall colored aspens, I chose to shoot well before sunrise. About 20 minutes before sunrise (the Blue Hour) the blue wavelength of light is reflected by the atmosphere, creating this dreamworld of color. The mist on the water tops off a perfect image before the day has even begun.
