Cathedral Peak Reflection, Tuolumne Meadows, Yosemite, California

Tuolumne Meadows is one of my favorite places to camp with my family. It is also a beautiful place to photograph, without the crowds often found in the valley. I was excited to have found this flood water pond to use as a reflecting pool for Cathedral Peak, adding depth and interest to the image. I had set up my 4x5 inch film camera and patiently waited for the first rays of morning light to hit the peak and background trees. Moments before the sun was in position I realized that my light meter was dead. Fortunately, experience kicked in and I was able to estimate the correct exposure, bringing this image to life.
